Smith’s Food & Drug earlier this month took over six locations in Southern Nevada previously operated under its discount sibling Food 4 Less. The stores each received around $4 million in renovations, providing new amenities including pharmacy, deli and bakery counters, service meat and seafood departments, floral selections and self-checkout stations. Employees from Food 4 Less were retained but given new training to help provide service commensurate with the Smith’s brand, officials said. Smith’s, a division of Kroger Co., operates 37 stores in Southern Nevada.
