H-E-B expands Dallas-Fort Worth presence with new McKinney supermarket
The 118,000-square-foot store, which has been under construction since March 2022, opened on Wednesday.
H-E-B this week opened its third supermarket in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a nearly 120,000-square foot store in McKinney, Texas.
The San Antonio-based grocer began construction on the store in March 2022, expanding its presence in the northern part of the state.
H-E-B also recently opened supermarkets in Frisco and Plano, and operates six Central Market stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The new McKinney store features a True Texas BBQ, a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru, fuel station, car wash, home décor department, and H-E-B curbside and home delivery areas.
The supermarket’s house-made sushi selection includes the DFW Roll with avocado, cucumber, spicy tuna and seared salmon, topped with spicy mayo and green onions.
The store, which will employ about 750 people, also focuses on sustainability, with energy-efficient CO2 refrigeration units and LED lighting, as well as native landscaping outside and a tree preserve between the store and nearby housing.
“Along with an enhanced in-store experience and commitment to top-quality service and selection, our H-E-B partners are committed to earning the confidence of our neighbors in this growing community,” H-E-B McKinney Top Store Leader Matt LoBello said in a statement. “We look forward to serving McKinney with the best of H-E-B and we are excited to provide a dynamic shopping experience.”
In the northern part of the state, H-E-B also has supermarkets under construction in Alliance, Allen and Mansfield. The grocer also announced plans in last month to open two value-focused Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B locations in Dallas, the first of that banner to open outside Houston.
