H-E-B to break ground on 2nd Frisco store

The Texas grocer is continuing its expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth area following the opening last fall of an 111,000-square-foot store in the Denton County city.

H-E-B plans to break ground next month on its second store in Frisco, Texas, part of its ongoing expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the grocer announced Tuesday.

The store, located at Highway 380 and FM 423 in Denton County about 30 miles north of Dallas, is tentatively scheduled to open late next year.

H-E-B opened its first Frisco supermarket in September. The 111,000-square-foot store features a drive-thru pharmacy and a True Texas BBQ restaurant drive-thru. H-E-B also opened a new store in Plano last year.

The grocer, the largest private employer in Texas, also has stores planned in Allen, Alliance, Mansfield and McKinney—all in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

“This new store builds on the company’s longstanding presence in the area and reinforces its commitment to serve more customers in this dynamic and growing part of Texas,” Mabrie Jackson, H-E-B’s senior director of public affairs, said in a statement.

San Antonio-based H-E-B said it is committed to the Dallas-Fort Worth area “for the long term” with expansion plans for the future.

H-E-B, which currently operates more than 430 grocery stores in Texas and Mexico, is expanding throughout the state.

Earlier this month, the grocer announced plans to open a new store in Georgetown, about 25 miles north of Austin, on June 7. The new 121,000-square-foot store replaces a nearly 35-year-old location less than a mile away that was about half the size.
