H-E-B will open a new Frisco, Texas, store in about two weeks, the retailer announced Monday.

The 111,000-square-foot North Texas market officially opens on Sept. 21, but customers are able to begin scheduling curbside pickup orders as soon as Sept. 19, the company said.

The Frisco store is part of H-E-B’s planned expansion into the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the grocer said last year. H-E-B’s Plano, Texas, store is slated to open this fall.

The new Frisco H-E-B will include both a pharmacy drive-thru and a True Texas BBQ restaurant drive-thru, the company said.

H-E-B broke ground on the Frisco store in June 2021. Modeled on the company’s flagship format, the new location features a Texas Backyard department with outdoor items as well as a bakery with tortillas made in-store; a deli department with a large cheese selection; a fresh-made, in-store sushi selection and Asian grill; H-E-B Meal Simple prepared meals; cooking demonstrations; a large Texas-grown produce selection; a meat department with fully cooked options; an extensive craft beer selection, with sampling; large wine department; bulk foods; pet supplies and more.

The store is expected to employ about 425 workers, the retailer said.

“Inside and out, H-E-B designed the store to reflect the character unique to the Frisco community and emphasized environmental sustainability, incorporating several energy efficient inclusions such as CO2 refrigeration units and LED lighting,” H-E-B said in a statement. “The site also features extensive native landscaping and outdoor community space.”

H-E-B said it is moving into Frisco to serve more shoppers in “this dynamic and growing part of Texas.”

In May, H-E-B broke ground for a new store in Allen, Texas, also in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. That store is planned to open next year. In March, the retailer began construction on a store in McKinney, Texas, also scheduled to open in 2023.

H-E-B is the largest private employer in Texas, with more than 420 stores and 137,000 employees in Texas and Mexico.
