Aldata, a global leader in retail and distribution improvement software, has announced that Heinen’s Fine Foods in Cleveland, Ohio, deployed Aldata Direct Store Delivery to optimize the direct delivery of perishable products from vendors and manufacturers to its retail stores. A third-generation, family-owned chain of neighborhood stores serving communities throughout Northeast Ohio, Heinen’s is using Aldata Direct Store Delivery to also ensure freshness and the in-stock position of DSD Products in all of its grocery stores. Aldata DSD ensures that perishable or high-turnover, perishable products, such as bread or fish, are fresh and consistently in stock by enabling them to bypass distribution centers, minimize the number of days in the supply chain and arrive directly at the store shelf.  Aldata’s next generation DSD System is designed to facilitate the delivery of products at the right cost, while protecting both retail profit margins and the stores’ in-stock position. With Aldata DSD:

  • Demand Forecasting and Intelligent Ordering ensure customers receive fresh, consistently available merchandise;

  • Bypassed warehouse operations materially reduce labor and transport costs;

  • Improved store operational controls minimize delivery errors, incorrect costs, forgotten discounts and time consuming manual processing.

“With Aldata DSD we have created a comprehensive, easy-to-deploy, centrally-managed solution that allows retailers to seamlessly authorize assortments, place and manage orders, receive inventory with minimal effort, accurately reconcile invoices, and report on vendor performance,” says Brendan Lowe, Aldata’s U.S. president. “Aldata DSD accomplishes this by eliminating the current need to ‘host’ data to the store helping to control inventory based on a Centralized System with a Science-Based Replenishment Engine. Additionally, built-in Invoice Reconciliation streamlines vendor invoice processing and accurately identifies discrepancies.” “Heinen’s Fine Foods has based its business on being a specialty grocer that consistently offers super fresh produce, meat, fish and bakery items,” said Rick Fink, director of supply chain at Heinen’s Fine Foods. “With Aldata Direct Store Delivery, Heinen’s is able to further distance itself from the large grocery chains by decreasing the time it takes for us to get food from the farm to our customers’ tables.”
