Inserra Supermarkets kicked off the 10-year anniversary celebration of its In-store Dietitian Program by hosting a storewide Health and Wellness Fair at ShopRite of Wallington. Attendees of all ages delighted in the “Healthy Meal Makeovers,” a themed event featuring an array of better-for-you product and recipe samplings, giveaways, complimentary health screenings and more.

“Educating our customers and associates on the importance of healthy eating and preventive health screenings is one of our top priorities at Inserra Supermarkets, and we continue to expand our dietitian programming with that goal in mind,” says Lindsey Inserra, vice president of corporate health and wellness at Inserra Supermarkets. The family-owned chain owns and operates 22 ShopRite stores located in New Jersey and New York.

Under the direction of Lindsey Inserra, the registered dietitians are a go-to resource at the stores, enabling busy customers to get their nutrition questions answered and pick up healthy recipe ideas while shopping. Each month, the dietitians host a variety of free store-based events, such as product demos, one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions, weight management classes and health screenings, among others. They also lead hands-on cooking classes for a nominal fee. In addition, the dietitians often partner with local hospitals, schools and nonprofits to conduct free workshops and seminars.

At the Health and Wellness Fair, complimentary screenings included postural assessments by chiropractor Dr. Michael Bozan, vein circulation screenings by professionals with the Center for Vein Restoration and backpack safety screenings for children by a physical therapist from Kessler Rehab. In addition, 24 Hour Fitness and Orange Theory Fitness provided details on the essential role of exercise in achieving one’s health and wellness goals and gave away free passes and trial memberships. The event also included free massages courtesy of Project Body, and a flu shot clinic in partnership with ShopRite of Wallington’s Pharmacy.
