Placon Showcases Design Excellence with Three AmeriStar Award Winners

Placon was recently announced as an AmeriStar award winner for not one, not two, but three packaging designs that are recognized by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). The AmeriStar awards are an annual award given to the best packaging design within the twenty-seven judging categories. The award winning Placon package designs were in the Household (PACLOCK Bi-Fold Clamshell), Medical Device (ORTHOFIX Medical Tray) and Saves Food – Foodservice (HomeFresh® Entrée) categories.

Each package design brings a unique set of features that set them apart from current designs. The PACLOCK Bi-Fold Clamshell, winning design in the Household category, allows PACLOCK to have 100% more space to hold graphic and product information within the package. More product information allows the end customer to read and learn about the product prior to purchase, which will increase point of sale by having more information at the customer fingertips.

The ORTHOFIX Medical Tray, winner of the Medical Device award category, is a superb design that has features to suspend a set of medical device screws with HA coating that prevents abrasion or rubbing off of the critical coating that needs to be on each screw for proper medical operating room usage. The high level of difficulty and precision make this package truly one-of-a-kind that meets a solution for the customer as a result.

The Saves Food – Foodservice category winner was HomeFresh® Entrée by Placon. Designed to stack neatly, to avoid tipping over and causing a mess for the end user. It also features a leak resistant lid, vented or non-vented lid options and is microwavable. Simply microwave, wash and reuse.
