H-E-B on Wednesday opened its newest North Texas supermarket, a 117,000-square-foot store in Allen, about 25 miles north of Dallas.

The grocer has focused in recent years on expanding in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where it currently operates supermarkets in Frisco, Plano and McKinney. San Antonio-based H-E-B also operates six upscale Central Market locations in the area.

H-E-B previously announced plans to open three more stores in North Texas, with locations slated for Melissa, Prosper and Rockwall expected to open in 2025, along with two value-focused Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B heading to the Dallas area in the next two years. H-E-B stores in Alliance and Mansfield are currently under construction.

H-E-B broke ground on the Allen store in May 2022, after purchasing the property nearly a decade earlier, according to local reports.

“We’re excited that our H-E-B Allen store is now open to serve customers in this growing area with top-quality service and selection,” H-E-B Allen Top Store Leader Levon Norwood said in a statement. “We look forward to serving Allen with a dynamic shopping experience along with the best of H-E-B.”
