KEENE, N.H. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers signed a distribution agreement with Pure Energy, a subsidiary of Pure Energy Visions Corp., Toronto, late last week. Pure Energy is a Canadian developer of environmentally responsible batteries. "The U.S. market for rechargeable batteries continues to grow at unprecedented rates," said Stephen Meldrum, president, Pure Energy. "With a suggested retail price in line with premium single-use alkaline batteries, and less than half the cost of other rechargeable batteries, we see a very bright future for our batteries in the U.S." Pure Energy makes rechargeable and single-use batteries, according to its website. With over 60 warehouse facilities throughout the United States, C&S serves supermarket chains including Pathmark, Safeway, Giant Food Stores, Shaw's, Stop and Shop, A&P Food Mart, Big Y Foods, BJ's Warehouse, Great American, SavMart/Foodmax, and Demoulas, as well as a number of independent operators.
