NACDS Elects New Board Members

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — David W. Bernauer, chairman, Walgreen Co., Deerfield, Ill., was elected chairman of the board of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Alexandria, Va., for the 2007-2008 term. Warren F. Bryant, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Longs Drug Stores, Walnut Creek, Calif., was elected vice chairman, and Mark W. Parrish, chairman and CEO of Medicine Shoppe International, Earth City, Mo., was elected treasurer. The elections took place yesterday during the NACDS annual meeting here. Five new members of the board were also elected. Serving a three-year term will be Paul E. Beahm, senior vice president and general merchandise manager, pharmacy, Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark. Serving one-year terms will be Timothy R. LaBeau, president and CEO, Drug Fair Group, Somerset, N.J.; Robert D. Loeffler, chief operating officer, H.E Butt Grocery Co., San Antonio; Jim Mastrian, chief operating officer, Rite Aid Corp., Camp Hill, Pa.; and Larry J. Merlo, president, CVS Pharmacy, retail, CVS Corp., Woonsocket, R.I. Former NACDS chairman Alan Levin was elected to the honorary NACDS board of directors.
