LAKELAND, Fla. — After a pilot in its Atlanta division, Publix Pharmacies will expand a new Sync Your Refills program to the remainder of its pharmacies by the end of the month.

Sync Your Refills will help customers in Publix Super Market’s 925 pharmacies synchronize their medications so that they’re refilled on the same day of the month, which better equips pharmacists to engage customers and discuss patient care activities like immunizations, medication changes, medication therapy management consultations and medication adherence.

"About eight days out we'll call the patient to make sure there hasn't been any medication changes and to confirm when they'll pick up the prescription," said spokeswoman Maria Brous.

A reminder call or text is issued the day prior to pick-up. A call or text is also issued if prescriptions are not picked up within 48 hours of the due date.

"[Sync Your Refills] gives us the ability to look holistically at the patient, ask them pertinent questions, let them ask questions and help put it all together," said Brous.
