NEW YORK -- More consumers plan to give gift cards for Father’s Day this year than last year, according to a survey released yesterday by consumer loyalty consultancy Brand Keys here. Of what’s expected to be a $9 billion holiday, gift cards will be the second-most-popular purchase, with 26% of respondents planning to buy them as gifts. Clothing was the top choice at 28%. Tools came in third at 10%. "Our survey indicates that 77% of consumers will be celebrating the holiday, and that they’ll be spending an average of $125 to recognize the special position dads hold. That's up 8% over last year," said Brand Keys President Robert Passikoff.
