ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans is sourcing a new line of BPA-free toys made entirely from recycled milk jugs and packaged in recycled/recyclable corrugated boxes.

Sold from the Nature’s Marketplace departments in its stores, the dishwasher-safe Green Toys line comprises a dump truck, recycle truck, tea set, pizza with toppings, tug boat and miniature race cars. Most are $24.99, except the tug boat, $12.99, and the little race cars, $7.99.

“The energy savings are significant; every pound of recycled plastic used in Green Toys saves enough energy to keep a laptop computer running for a month,” says Wegmans’ senior vice president of consumer affairs, Mary Ellen Burris, in her latest Fresh Stories blog post.
