HOUSTON — In celebration of its 10th anniversary, H.E. Butt Grocery’s Central Market has invited 10 local chefs to its Houston store to prepare their favorite recipes.

The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Each chef participating in the so-called "Chefs Invitational" will prepare a specialty dish made with Texas products.

The event will also include Texas wines and entertainment.

Local celebrity judges and a panel of customers will cast their vote for their favorite dish, and crown a Central Market 10th Anniversary winner at the end of the evening. Participating chefs include Randy Evans of Haven restaurant; Philippe Schmit, Phillipe Restaurant and John Sheely, Mockingbird Bistro.

All proceeds benefit Foodways Texas, an organization founded by chefs, journalists and others to celebrate the diverse food cultures of Texas.
