PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — Price Chopper here has launched a new deli SKU that lets customers show support their favorite local Big 12 university with their favorite tailgating food.
The new “Game On Fan Packs” debuted this season as part of Price Chopper’s annual partnership with Kansas City’s three regional Big 12 universities — Kansas State, Kansas and Missouri-Columbia. The Game On partnership allows Price Chopper to use all three universities’ logos and mascots in advertising and in-store signage.
The Game On Fan Packs will be available in the deli departments of all 49 Price Chopper stores for $15 each. Shoppers can choose to fill the university-themed buckets with 10 pieces of fried chicken, three pounds of chicken tenders, three dozen kettle fried chicken wings, three pounds of boneless wings, 100 chicken nuggets or 12 party sandwiches.
“In Kansas City, we believe our three regional Big 12 teams have more fans and generate more excitement than our city’s professional football team does,” Casie Broker, Price Chopper’s director of marketing, said in a release. “These new Game On Fan Packs are the latest offering in our 32 years of being the official supermarket for tailgating in Kansas City.”
The Game On promotion, including the new Fan Pack buckets, will be supported with in-store spirit rallies showcasing Big 12 mascots and cheerleaders, weekly specials on tailgating and watch party foods and beverages, a Facebook contest that will give away tickets to every K-State, Kansas and Missouri home game, an employee challenge to incentivize sales of Game On Fan Packs, and advertising on TV, radio, print and digital media utilizing the teams’ mascots.
