Hannaford is incentivizing shoppers to buy healthier foods with discounts on select store-brand purchases.
The retailer is providing 24 electronic coupons for store brand carrots, peanuts, kale and other health and wellness foods, according to NutriSavings, the corporate wellness company that provides the platform.
NutriSavings participants receive electronic offers, cash-back rewards and other incentives to buy healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, low-fat dairy and other products that can lower body mass index, cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose.
Once a participant opts in, they can view offers online, and activate the ones they want.
Hannaford is one of a half dozen retailers participating in the program. Others include Stop & Shop, Roche Bros., and Wegmans.
All retail members offer discounts funded by participating CPG manufacturers. Hannaford, however, is the only retail member to provide store-brand coupons, according to NutriSavings VP Jeremy Doak.
