GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer Inc. here ran a large cereal promotion in which national brands were featured with its own private label at an attractive price point.

The double-truck ad, which ran late last month, pictured a castle of cereal boxes and trumpeted "Great Savings on Your Favorite Cereals!"

General Mills cereals were featured at $1.99, Quaker at two for $3, Post/Nabisco at $1.99, Kellogg's at $2.49 and $2.99 and Malt O Meal at three for $5. Altogether, there were 32 stockkeeping units of national brands on sale, and 10 SKUs of Meijer products.

The Meijer cereals were featured at $1.48 per box, and included Frosted Fruit O's, Honey Nut Toasted Oats, Golden Corn Nuggets and Cocoa Comets.
