SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets is promoting its new Chuck Wagon private-label dog food.

Marketed by Topco Associates, the brand was introduced on the Price Chopper Facebook page last week.

“So you remember your favorite commercial from when you were a kid?” Price Chopper wrote. “We love this old Chuck Wagon Dog Food commercial and are happy to announce that we're once again carrying this brand.”

Included in the Facebook post was a link to a YouTube video of a Chuck Wagon television commercial from the 1970s. Purina originally owned the brand, but abandoned it in 2005.

Topco acquired the rights to Chuck Wagon late last year, said Glenn Backus, Topco’s senior vice president of center store program management and innovation. Along with Price Chopper, other retailers carrying the brand include K-VA-T Food Stores, Lowes Foods, Associated Grocers, Piggly Wiggly Carolina, United Supermarkets and Tops Friendly Markets.

Chuck Wagon Dry Dog Dinner is available in 44-, 13- and 3.5-pound bags. The brand also offers dog biscuits, jerky strips and jerky sticks in a variety of pack sizes.
