H-E-B Launches Gas Discount

SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B here said it has launched a gas-discount program at its on-site fuel stations.

SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B here said it has launched a gas-discount program at its on-site fuel stations.

The chain will offer customers savings of 12 cents per gallon when they use an H-E-B gift card at participating stations. The cards can be purchased at any H-E-B store.

"H-E-B understands the impact gas prices have on our customers, and that is why we are committed to offering some of the lowest grocery prices in Texas, and the nation," said Winell Herron, H-E-B group vice president of public affairs and diversity, in a statement. "At H-E-B, we always look for ways to help our customers make ends meet, and gas promotions are included in our commitment."

H-E-B will promote the program with in-store signs, TV, radio and print ads, and through digital and social media channels. A list of H-E-B stores with participating fuel stations can be found at www.heb.com.

The promotion began April 1 and ends July 7.

It comes as Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark., launches a 15-cents-per-gallon discount at its fuel stations for customers who pay using a Walmart credit card or Walmart MoneyCard. Customer who use a Walmart gift card receive a 10-cent discount.

Wal-Mart’s “Great Gas Rollback” is running in 21 states, and also expires July 7.
