In a move to fine-tune its format and shopping experience, Price Rite Marketplace is piloting new store designs, expanded fresh and private-label offerings and enhanced price savings at three Pennsylvania stores.

The Wakefern Food Corp. value grocery chain said it has upgraded stores in Bethlehem, Allentown and Secane, Pa., and plans to debut the redesigns and new features in grand reopening events on Oct. 5.

Headlining the changes is a new in-store concept dubbed the Price Rite Marketplace Drop Zone, which showcases hot deals, special buys and “must-have” products typically priced at $3 or less. Price Rite said the Drop Zone makes it easier for customers by putting extraordinary offers in one destination.

Also on the savings front, Price Rite has trimmed everyday prices on hundreds of items storewide and is rolling out weekly deals under the new Spot on Savings! program, which highlights discounts with bright red spots that pop out in aisles.

“For more than 20 years, Price Rite has been proud to offer incredible value and fresh products to our shoppers,” President Jim Dorey said in a statement. “Now we are moving forward by cutting prices further on hundreds of items while highlighting our fresh offerings and making it even easier to spot extraordinary deals in our redesigned and reimagined Price Rite Marketplace stores.”

The store redesigns include new décor and a more vibrant color palette, a market-style produce department, LED lighting, improved signage and new self-service checkouts.

Price Rite said the Bethlehem and Allentown stores will be unveiling brand-new designs at the grand reopenings, while the Secane store was upgraded to the chain’s new look and logo last year and will be introducing additional store enhancements.

Price Rite also offers double-your-money-back guarantees on its store-brand products; a broad selection of meat, including brands like Certified Angus Beef, Perdue No Antibiotics Ever Chicken, Wholesome Pantry Organic chicken and Oasis Halal; and a destination bakery department with The Sweet Spot dessert case and items from the local Lusitania Bakery in Bethlehem. The retailer noted that it sources grown in 16 Pennsylvania towns.

Along with the grand reopening events, which will offer free samples and gift cards to customers, Price Rites said it’s supporting the store relaunches with promotional campaign focusing on the new Spot on Savings! program.

Price Rite Marketplace operates 66 supermarkets in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland and Virginia. Wakefern’s more than 340 stores also include the banners ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer and Dearborn Market.
