Sam’s Club, Costco in middle of massive meat snack recall

CDC warning now involves two products that may be linked to salmonella poisoning

Federal health officials are now getting involved in a charcuterie meat snack tray recall, reports the Associated Press.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is casting a wider warning net regarding the product that is tied to salmonella poisoning. The trays were sold at Sam’s Club and Costco, and so far, at least 47 people in 22 states have fallen ill after eating the Busseto brand and Fratelli Beretta brand meats. Ten people have been hospitalized.

Originally the CDC released a warning about one recalled lot of Busseto brand charcuterie sampler trays following an incident in Minnesota, but now it is telling retailers and shoppers not to stock or buy any lots of the foods. The Busseto charcuterie sampler is offered at Sam’s, while the Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Gran Beretta products are found at Costco.

The trays come in twin packs and feature prosciutto, sweet soppressata, and dry coppa or black pepper-coated dry salami, Italian dry salami, dry coppa, and prosciutto.
