NEW YORK — Web grocer FreshDirect has introduced a new Daily Seafood Rating System that it says will “take the guesswork out of choosing high-quality seafood and [eliminate] the need to speak with a fishmonger to find out what’s best that day,” according to a company release.

FreshDirect’s in-house seafood experts will inspect the company’s seafood stock each morning, and rank items based on smell, look and feel, ultimately using a five-star ranking system — similar to the Daily Produce Rating System the company introduced earlier this year — to offer recommendations for customers.
