WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee Food Stores has announced the launch of sustainability and healthy living website, as well as a new partnership with the seafood nonprofit FishWise.
The new Hy-Vee sustainability website will highlight Hy-Vee’s environmental initiatives, covering topics such as energy conservation, recycling, and green building practices, according to a Hy-Vee press release.
Hy-Vee will expand on its current seafood procurement plan that already focuses on keeping seafood safe for eating and sustainably sourced, Mike Smith, assistant vice president, real estate and sustainability for Hy-Vee, explained in the release.
Hy-Vee said it intends to develop and roll out out a comprehensive sustainability policy with FishWise to source seafood, educate consumers, and train associates.
“As a company, we are dedicated to promoting the well-being of our customers, our employees, our communities and the global environment,” said Smith. “This means not only operating as a good steward of the environment, but also providing our customers with the resources to live more healthy and sustainable lives.”
