Oscar Mayer Adds Low-Fat Line

Low Fat Fun Packs contain 10 to 11 grams of fat per package, which is 50% less than the original Fun Packs. Oscar Mayer achieved the lower fat content by using reduced-fat cheese and fat-free desserts such as Fat Free Jell-O Chocolate Pudding, and Watermelon and Strawberry Jell-O Gelatin Snacks. "We know that choice is important to consumers, so we developed a low-fat option for people who want the convenience of a Lunch Combination, but with less fat," said Steve Shanesy, vice president of marketing for Oscar Mayer Foods.
Available nationally at a suggested retail price of $2.29 to $2.39, each Pack contains a Capri Sun juice drink. Low Fat Fun Pack varieties include Ham with Kraft Cheddar Flavored Cheese Product and Fat Free Jell-O Chocolate Pudding; Ham with Kraft Swiss Cheese Product and Watermelon Jell-O Gelatin Snack, and turkey breast, Kraft Cheddar Flavored Cheese Product and Strawberry Jell-O Gelatin Snack.
FMI Offering Seafood Guide
WASHINGTON -- A new manual for retailers provides information on international seafood suppliers and the Food and Drug Administration's procedures for importation.
Available from the Food Marketing Institute here, the 107-page manual includes an overview of U.S. seafood import and export businesses and step-by step guidelines on the import process, as well as a section on developing a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points system for seafood departments. ARLINGTON, Va. -- The National Fisheries Institute here has published a brochure for retailers entitled "Fishing for Quality."
The brochure explains how modern technology has improved the quality of frozen fish and provides tips on handling and selecting fresh fish and recipes for cooking both fresh and frozen seafood.
