AUSTIN, Texas — Bob “The Fish Guy” Reany (holding trident above) is the winner of Whole Foods Market first Fishmonger Challenge at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen last Saturday.

The 11 Whole Foods Market fishmonger finalists competed in a trivia contest and a timed salmon filleting challenge.

Reany — winner of the golden trident trophy — is a seafood team leader at the Highlands Ranch, Colo., store. He has been a fishmonger for nearly 40 years, Whole Foods said in a statement to the media.

Fishmongers Prepare for Final Face-off

"Our face-off was an incredible opportunity to honor and celebrate our committed and skilled fishmongers,” said David Pilat, global seafood coordinator for Whole Foods Market, in a press release.

“We're fortunate to have experts behind the seafood counter who guide our shoppers to the best choices for their tastes and budgets and for healthy oceans."
