AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods’ market blog announced details to eco-friendly packaging changes to its Whole Body line. The changes consist mostly of using post-consumer recycled materials.

Products that utilize PCR plastics are said by some experts not only to decrease production of plastic worldwide, but also reduce the release of greenhouse gases.

Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value brand in lotion, hair care, hand sanitizers and foaming soap use 50% PCR plastic. All the body care and supplements are transitioning to 100% PCR plastic bottles. Shipping cases are 30% PCR cardboard boxes.

Whole Foods' brand currently offers supplements in amber colored 100% PCR plastic. Supplements in boxes are transitioning to 100% recycled (50% PCR) paperboard.
