Dorothy Lane opens cake shop

Dorothy Lane Market has moved its cake operations to a new 1,050-square-foot facility located behind one of its Dayton, Ohio, stores.

Called Love Cakes, the new cake shop will hold its grand opening Sept. 20.

The retailer’s cake team consists of 14 associates, led since 2012 by manager Katherine Dean.

“We wanted the name of our new shop to encompass why people buy cake. Is it for a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or just because they love cakes? There it was, right in front of us — Love Cakes!” Jennifer Dahm, coffee bar director, wrote in an article on the Dorothy Lane website.
