WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Tops Friendly Markets is the latest grocer to bring the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System to all of its stores.

Scores ranging from 1 to 100 are posted on Tops' shelves and signs for more than 18,000 items throughout the store, making it easy for shoppers to compare the overall nutrition of foods at a glance. The higher the score, the more nutritious the product.

"We're always looking for ways to help our customers navigate through the wide variety of products we offer," said Frank Curci, Tops' president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement. Hy-Vee, Price Chopper, Big Y Foods, Meijer Inc., and United Supermarkets have also adopted the system.
