PELHAM, N.Y. — DeCicco Markets here is at least the second grocer in the state to decide it will stop selling tobacco products in its stores, according to a published report. DeCicco locations in Pelham, Bronxville, Scarsdale, New City and Jefferson Valley are expected to sell off the remainder of their tobacco inventory by April. The retailer’s newest location, a year-old store in Ardsley, has never sold cigarettes. The family-owned chain projects that it will lose several thousand dollars a week in profit. “We want to try to promote better health as much as possible,” John DeCicco Jr., vice president of operations for DeCicco, told the Associated Press. “It’s a moral decision as well in that we don’t want to promote underage smoking.”
