PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets has launched a new in-house floral delivery service from its location here. It will serve any address in surrounding Monroe County, according to a recent column by Mary Ellen Burris, senior vice president of consumer affairs. The delivery fee is $8 for orders of $45 or more. Custom arrangements are also available and orders can be made via phone, email and in-store. Wegmans previously outsourced its delivery arrangement, but because it was costly for customers to use, and could not provide Sunday deliveries, the retailer said it decided to go in-house and extend the service to seven days a week and evenings. The store has purchased a van for floral deliveries. All delivery personnel will be in uniform and wear a security badge with a picture. The Pittsford store is the pilot store for Wegmans' flower shops and most new programs in other departments as well, including seafood and grill bars, tea bars, macrobiotic veggie bar and skin care.
