He succeeds Ron Onorato, who has been named senior vice president of operational initiatives for Ahold USA.

Sussman, a 16-year Ahold veteran, most recently had been executive vice president, Ahold supply chain, and previously had been interim division president for the Giant-Carlisle chain. He had joined Stop & Shop in 1995, and previously had worked for Pathmark.

In his new role, Onorato will be responsible for working with the Ahold USA Retail divisions to identify and help implement best practices in the area of operational excellence and performance.

Both Sussman and Onorato will report to Bhavdeep Singh, who recently was named executive vice president, operations.
