Bergman to Retire from Shoppers Food

LANHAM, Md. — Dick Bergman, president of Shoppers Food & Pharmacy here, will retire effective Oct. 1, the retailer here said Monday.

LANHAM, Md. — Dick Bergman, president of Shoppers Food & Pharmacy here, will retire effective Oct. 1, the retailer here said Monday.

Brian Huff, senior vice president of specialty retail at Shoppers’ parent company Supervalu, will assume Bergman’s responsibilities until a permanent successor is named, the company added.

Bergman was named president of Shoppers in 2006. His previous industry experience includes serving executive roles with Farm Fresh, Scott's Food & Pharmacy, and Rice Epicurean Markets.

“I appreciate the years of service Dick has provided Shoppers and wish him the best as he begins this new chapter in his life,” Huff said in a statement. “Dick has achieved many key successes during his tenure. By building on these accomplishments, we look forward to the continued success of Shoppers.”
