LARCHMONT, N.Y. — Nicholas D'Agostino III, president and chief operating officer of D'Agostino Supermarkets here, has become the fourth member of the D'Agostino family and the third generation of D'Agostinos to chair the Food Industry Alliance of New York State (formerly the New York State Food Merchants Association). Prior to becoming FIA chairman, D'Agostino was the trade association's first vice chairman. He recently assured New York food retailers that “FIA will be unwavering in its continued aggressive opposition to bottle [law] expansion and to the confiscation of unclaimed deposits.” He also stated support for new laws allowing liberalization of wine sales in supermarkets, noting that “this will generate badly needed revenue at no cost to the state's citizens.” D'Agostino is also a member of the National Grocers Association's board of directors and executive committee.
KRAFT'S BRINDLE HEADS NGA COUNCIL
ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Grocers Association here has appointed Rick Brindle, of Kraft Foods North America, as chairman of its Supplier Advisory Council. Brindle's title at Kraft is customer vice president, e-sales and industry relations. The NGA Supplier Advisory Council provides guidance and makes recommendations on the development of policy positions, programs and services for the association, which represents independent food retailers.
