MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores announced last week that it has named James C. Snyder Jr. to the position of senior vice president — general counsel, and corporate secretary. “With substantial expertise in corporate governance, litigation and risk management, Jim is an excellent addition to our team,” said Howard Levine, chairman and chief executive officer. “As a member of our senior leadership team, Jim will bring an experienced, balanced legal perspective to our decision making as we continue to work to become a more compelling place to shop, work and invest.” Prior to joining Family Dollar, Snyder was vice president and associate general counsel for legal and risk management at Home Depot. Before that, he was a partner with the law firm of King & Spalding, where he practiced for 12 years.
FORMER A&P CFO TAKES NEW ROLE
SAN ANTONIO — Mitchell P. Goldstein, a former chief financial officer at A&P, has been appointed to the same role at Clear Channel Radio here, Clear Channel announced last week. Goldstein left A&P in 2005 after helping to engineer the firm's sale of its Canadian division. More recently he was an executive vice president and CFO of Nice-Pak Products. He is a former executive at Vlasic Foods and Campbell Soup.
