MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores announced yesterday that it has named James C. Snyder Jr. to the position of senior vice president — general counsel, and corporate secretary.

“With substantial expertise in corporate governance, litigation and risk management, Jim is an excellent addition to our team,” said Howard Levine, chairman and chief executive officer. “As a member of our senior leadership team, Jim will bring an experienced, balanced legal perspective to our decision making as we continue to work to become a more compelling place to shop, work and invest.”
