Family Dollar Promotes Flur to CMO

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores here last week said it has promoted Dorlisa K. Flur to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. She succeeds Robert George, who left the company to pursue other opportunities, the dollar chain said. Flur, who joined the company in 2004 as senior vice president of strategy and business development, most recently had been executive vice president of strategy and marketing and led the launch of the company's food strategy.

NORTON RETIRES FROM HAGGEN AS SVP

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Haggen Inc. here last week said Dave Norton, senior vice president of sales and marketing, has announced plans to retire, effective Sept. 11. No successor has been named yet. Norton has been with Haggen since 1998, joining the company as vice president of Center Store and moving to his current post in 2001. Earlier in his career, he worked for Alpha Beta Co. in Southern California, rising to the post of vice president, sales and marketing. When Alpha Beta was acquired by Food 4 Less Markets, he was named senior vice president of procurement. Prior to joining Haggen, Norton was senior vice president, retail, at Eagle Food Centers in Milan, Ill.

MCCORMICK HEADS K.C. GROCERS

SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan. — Jon T. McCormick has been named president of the Retail Grocers Association of Greater Kansas City here. He succeeds John Cunningham, who left the association after a couple of years as president. McCormick was previously vice president of supermarket solutions at Balance Innovations, Overland Park, Kan. Earlier in his career, he was executive director of member services at Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan.
