Finley Named to Publix Board

LAKELAND, Fla. — Jane B. Finley, a professor of accounting at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., has been named to the board of directors of Publix Super Markets, the retailer said. Dr. Finley has an impressive background in finance and information technology that will complement our current board of directors, Maria Brous, a spokeswoman for Publix, said in a statement.

NACS TAPS GIANT EAGLE VETERAN

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Convenience Stores last week said it has named Derek Gaskins vice president of marketing. He most recently was director of marketing at Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle, where his responsibilities included marketing support for the chain's GetGo c-store banner. Before joining Giant Eagle in 2002, Gaskins was an assistant brand manager at Procter & Gamble, and he previously was an account representative for Nabisco Foods.
