King Kullen Names Real Estate Director
King Kullen Grocery Co. here said Thursday that James Ashley (AJ) Johnston has been appointed director of real estate, a new position at the retailer.

BETHPAGE, N.Y. — King Kullen Grocery Co. here said Thursday that James Ashley (AJ) Johnston has been appointed director of real estate, a new position at the retailer.
“James Johnston brings to King Kullen extensive experience gained in diverse roles managing and directing all aspects of real estate acquisitions, entitlements, and development in the New York tri-state area with both Fortune 500 Companies and private ventures,” Brian C. Cullen, co-president, said in a statement. “I am confident he will play a vital role in overseeing our real estate department and identifying new sites for possible acquisition or lease by King Kullen.”
At King Kullen, Johnston is responsible for research and strategic real estate planning, underwriting, and due diligence efforts, with primary responsibility for the asset management of King Kullen's stores. Additional responsibilities include the disposition of real estate, financing, leasing, construction, and maintenance. Prior to joining King Kullen, Johnston was development associate for Blumenfeld Development Group, where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and due diligence efforts for acquisitions and financing, as well as planning, development, construction, and leasing.
