ARLINGTON, Va. — National Grocers Association here last week announced that it has promoted both Thomas Wenning and Frank DiPasquale to the position of executive vice president. Both had been senior vice president. Wenning, who has been with the association since it was founded in 1982, will continue to manage NGA's public affairs program and serve as the association's general counsel. DiPasquale, who joined NGA in 1997, will continue to oversee research and education, the convention and conferences, and communications and membership.

SAVE-A-LOT UNVEILS STAFF CHANGES

ST. LOUIS — Save-A-Lot, the limited-assortment chain here that is owned by Supervalu, Minneapolis, last week said it has hired four new executives and promoted three others. Bill Gillispie, a veteran of other Supervalu banners, joined Save-A-Lot as senior vice president of marketing and merchandising. Tom Lenkevich joined Save-A-Lot as senior vice president of retail operations. He is a former Save-A-Lot operator and also previously worked at Meijer, A&P and Farmer Jack. Andrea Wagner joined Save-A-Lot as vice president of consumer-brand strategy. Wagner held previous positions at Kroger and H.E. Butt Grocery Co. Vanessa Foster joined Save-A-Lot as director of communications and community relations; she most recently worked at Cartoon Network. John Gerber, who has been with Supervalu since 1985 and Save-A-Lot since 2002, was promoted to vice president of distribution. Mike Kemp was promoted to vice president of product segments. He joined Save-A-Lot in 2003 and has managed the company's procurement of meat and perishables. Donna Mickens was promoted to director of organization effectiveness. Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, she was a managing partner at consulting firm MCG.
