BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here on Monday said that it will launch a global consumer insights team headed by Cindy Davis, the former executive vice president of its Sam’s Club division.
Davis on Monday was named to the newly created position of executive vice president of global consumer insights. The department will help Wal-Mart and Sam's Club understand broad consumer trends, provide insight into customers' needs across the world, and create advanced analytical tools to support the business, the retailer said in a statement.
Davis, who will continue to report to Brian Cornell, president and chief executive officer of Sam’s Club, has served as Sam’s Club’s EVP since 1998 and is a former brand-builder for Harrah's Entertainment, Starwood and Promus Hotels, and Pizza Hut. She also has experience with ad agencies BBDO, Tracy-Locke and Rapp Collins.
“She is a leader that understands the importance of putting the customer at the center of everything we do, and the power insights can have on business decision making," Cornell said in a statement. "She has demonstrated an ability to build teams and capabilities that deliver business performance today while preparing us to capitalize on our business potential for the future."
Wal-Mart said it would announce a replacement for Davis’ role at Sam’s Club at a later date.
