DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens here announced three new members of its senior management team late last month. Bryan Pugh has joined the company as vice president of format development; Colin F. Watts has joined as a vice president and president of Walgreens Health and Wellness disease management; and Jeffrey J. Zavada has joined as a vice president and chief sales officer with responsibility for selling health care services to managed-care organizations and other payors. In his new position, Pugh will focus on affordable and essential merchandise, including basic staples such as food items, paper products and other consumables. Pugh most recently was with Tesco USA's Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, where he designed the Fresh & Easy store operations model and launched the chain on the West Coast. Previously, he had launched three new retail formats in Thailand for Tesco Thailand. Prior to Tesco, Pugh spent six years with CP Group of Asia, opening hypermarkets in China and Thailand and having responsibility for all purchasing. From 1985 to 1993, he worked for Wal-Mart Stores, moving up from an assistant store manager in the Sam's Club division to vice president of membership marketing.
