MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P will close three underperforming SuperFresh stores in New Jersey early next year, the retailer here told SN Tuesday.

The stores, in the Philadelphia suburbs of Marlton, Plainsboro and Westmont, will close Jan. 11, according to a company spokeswoman. The company informed union workers about the closings late last week and other employees on Monday.

The closures would leave A&P with 22 stores operating under the SuperFresh banner.
