ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Coborn’s Inc. said it plans to acquire four Captain Jack’s liquor stores in Bismarck, N.D., and one Bill’s Liquor store in Mandan, N.D., pending approval of license transfers.

The stores have been owned and operated since 1982 by brothers Tom Miller and John Miller, who will retire Jan. 1. The 50 employees of Captain Jack’s and Bill’s Liquor will be retained as employees of Coborn’s.

Coborn’s said the stores have a history of strong performance, providing an upscale shopping atmosphere and a variety of product offerings.

“The Captain Jack’s liquor stores are successful stores with outstanding teams of dedicated employees,” Chris Coborn, Coborn’s president and chief executive officer, said. “They have a long history of being part of their community and they know their customers and the market well. Our two companies are well aligned with similar values and our approach to customer service.”
