ISELIN, N.J. — D'Agostino Supermarkets of Larchmont, N.Y., has joined Allegiance Retail Services, the new entity formed by the Foodtown Cooperative here, Bill Donahoe, president and chief operating officer, Allegiance, told SN.
D'Agostino currently operates 15 stores in the metro New York area — primarily in Manhattan. The transition will take place over the next few months, Donahoe said.
"D'Agostino Supermarkets is excited about joining Allegiance," said Nick D'Agostino III, president and chief executive officer, D'Agostino's. "We were previously members of a cooperative organization for many years and now are very excited about renewing our relationship with the great operators at Allegiance. We feel it is like going back home. We look forward to being able to better serve our customers because of this relationship."
As previously reported, Allegiance is seeking to leverage the retail support services — including merchandising, marketing and IT — of the Foodtown co-op, which buys product collectively through C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keene, N.H.
