Former Giant Eagle Executive Joins USO

Jack Flanagan, a former executive vice president for Pittsburgh-based retailer Giant Eagle, has joined the United Service Organizations here as senior vice president of operations.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Jack Flanagan, a former executive vice president for Pittsburgh-based retailer Giant Eagle, has joined the United Service Organizations here as senior vice president of operations. For Giant Eagle, Flanagan led efforts to streamline operations, including a supply chain project yielding $40 million in savings during its first year, USO said. Since 2005 he has served as president of his own company, Poseidon Consultancy. Flanagan, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, will be responsible for developing and directing programs for the USO, which provides morale, welfare and recreational services for U.S. military personnel.
