Upscale specialty grocer The Fresh Market has leased 23,000 square feet at The Village at Livingston, occupying a portion of the center’s former Pathmark store, developer Eastman Cos. said.

The Fresh Market is scheduled to open early this fall, representing the chain’s third New Jersey location, following previous openings in Bedminster and Montvale. Pathmark closed its store in Livingston in 2011.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Fresh Market to The Village at Livingston,” Pete Schofel, Eastman’s co-managing partner said. “The store’s unique grocery concept and full-service philosophy has earned a large and loyal following with consumers. We are confident this retailer not only will make a major contribution to the ongoing success of the center, but will become a key amenity for local residents and a strong part of the community.”
