WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Grocers Association said it has presented its Leadership Award to Jan Gee, president and chief executive officer of the Washington Food Industry Association, for her dedication and continued service as a community-focused state association executive.

Gee began lobbying for grocers in 1986 and became the first president of the Washington Retail Association when it was formed in 1987. She continued to lobby on behalf of the food industry until 2006, when she became president and CEO of the renamed Washington Food Industry Association.
