PITTSBURGH — Retailer Giant Eagle here has made a $20 million bid to buy a bottled water and tea plant from bankrupt bottler LeNature’s, published reports said Wednesday. The trustee in the bankruptcy case of LeNature’s told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper that Giant Eagle will be revealed later this week as the “stalking horse” in an auction of the Latrobe, Pa., plant. The plant closed shortly after LeNature’s declaration of bankruptcy late last year. The auction is expected to be completed by August.
