Giant Expands Peapod to Philly

SKOKIE, Ill. — Peapod this week has launched Internet shopping and delivery in the Philadelphia region through a partnership with its Giant of Carlisle, Pa., stores.

SKOKIE, Ill. — Peapod this week has launched Internet shopping and delivery in the Philadelphia region through a partnership with its Giant of Carlisle, Pa., stores.

Peapod, based here, and Giant-Carlisle are divisions of Ahold USA.

Peapod said the first deliveries are scheduled Friday and that service includes Philadelphia, Delaware and southern Montgomery counties. Shoppers there can also shop via mobile phone with the Peapod Mobile application for iPhone, Android and Palm Pre users.

Area competitors offering grocery delivery include Safeway’s Genuardi’s chain.
