Houston Workers to Resume Negotiations With Kroger

HOUSTON — Workers represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Locals 455 and 408 here will resume negotiations with Kroger Co., Cincinnati, later this week in hopes of coming to a new contract agreement. Around 12,000 workers in the area are working under terms of a contract that expired March 31. The union in a statement this week said Kroger’s proposal reached after negotiations last week was “insulting and outrageous,” and put the workers’ health and welfare fund in jeopardy.
